The Triathlon takes place in Käringsund, Eckerö on western Åland, about 30 kilometers from Mariehamn. The triathlon area is within a walking distance from Eckerölinjen’s ferry harbour which has several daily departures to Grisslehamn The ferry crossing takes approx. 2 hours.

The swimming takes place in Käringsund’s scenic sea lagoon. This place can be recognized by many as the film setting for “The Sea Crow Island”, based on the children’s book by Astrid Lindgren. The swimming takes place close to the boathouses where the film was shot. The water in Käringsund is clear and fine. This time of the year the water temperature is between 15-19 degrees Celsius.
The ½ distance and the Käringsund open water starts takes place through a jump from M / S Michael Sars from which the participants swim to the beach at Käringsund Resort & Conference.
