Classes, distances and start times 2022

The Käringsund – relay is a short super sprint i.a. 200m swimming, 6km cycling and 2km running. One team consists of three participants and they choose if they participate in the competition class where all three participants do all the components  or if they participate in the Fun & Joy-class where each team participant do only one part of the relay.
The competition class is divided into men’s and women’s classes, mixed teams participate in the men’s class

Everyone who participates in an individual start on Saturday can participate in optional distance on Friday for free!
Registration code for free registration for Friday will be found in the confirmation email when you sign up for a individual Saturday-start!
NOTE! Everyone in a relay team must be registered for a individual start for the code to be used. Please contact us at info@alandevent.com if all team member won´t participate on Saturday!

The race enthusiasts are offered a serious competition in men’s and women’s general categories in  olympic- and halfdistance, young people in short supersprint (Friday) and thereto young people and general class sprint.
The olympic distance offers the competition classes M/W 19, M/W elite, M/W 30-39, M/W 40-49, M/W 50-59, M/W 60-69 and M/W 70+.
Half-distance have the following competition-classes M/W -24, M/W elite, M/W 30-39, M/W 40-49, M/W 50-59, M/W 60-69 and M/W 70+.
In short supersprint there are completion classes for M/W 13, M/W 15 and in sprint for M/W 17 and general M/W
The happy amateurs can participate in open classes in both olympic- and half-distance and in the sprint and supersprint. According to the rules and requirements for the open classes the contestant shall wear e.g. an approved helmet and safe equipment.

For younger children (up to 11 years) there are both toddlers’ and kids’ starts. Käringsund Aquathlon Special is meant for children and adults who have some form of mental retardation or special needs. In Aquathlon participants swim and run, no biking. In Aquathlon you first swim with the equipment you need and then you run (or cycling, wheelchair – optional aids allowed).

Käringsund Open Water, that was introduced in 2020 will also be a part of the event this year! It´s a 1900m open water – swim challenge that starts from M/S Michael Sars.
The ½ distance participants ans also the competition classes in the olympic distance  continues to have their start from M/S Michael Sars!

The start is 1500-1900m off the beach and the swimming beginns with 900-1300 m swimming in really open water west of Åland, which means
that the conditions can be rough  – it depends on what the weather gods decide! The last about 600m takes place in the calm and beautiful bay of Käringsund, Eckerö.
